Motive could be property, family brought killer
home
Faridabad
News: Chote Lal Yadav owned property worth crores.
Police suspect that is the reason the family was
killed. He worked as a marketing executive with Maruti
but then started his own provision store. His four
flats will approximately be worth Rs 7-8 crore. He
also owned property in Faridabad.
The police suspect that the family knew the murderer
and the entry was friendly. “They had been to a
wedding last night and must have returned accompanied
by somebody,” said police sources.
Also, it is possible that more than one person was
involved. Two of Yadav’s relatives — Ashok and Vijay
Kumar — are being questioned by police. Vijay was
related to Yadav’s first wife. “The family must have
been sedated and the murders must have been committed
in the night,” a source said. There were no signs of
resistance, even though Yadav had four-five stab
wounds and his wife — two. Yadav was still in his
safari suit — what he presumably wore to the wedding.
Shanti had on a green saree and Deepak too, had on
formal clothes.
“The murderer must have been chatting with the couple
till late and had taken the opportunity to slip them
the sedatives,” he said. A clearer picture will emerge
only after postmortem. Police suspect a self-actuated
knife was used, but no weapon was found.
It is also possible that the killers left the house
early in the morning as the chowkidaar stays the whole
night and the gate remains closed. “We did not see
anyone leaving or entering the house,” said a
neighbour, Abdul. Senior police officers said teams
have been sent to Shahjahanpur.
